The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is making the necessary preparations to transfer the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to the transitory site in Sitio Masepla, Barangay Mampang, this city.

Rosalie Casinillo, DSWD regional disaster focal person, a total of 504-room bunkhouses are vacant as well as 253 single-detach temporary housing units at the transitory site named as “Mampang I” and “Mampang II” in Barangay Mampang.

Casinillo said that the 504-room bunkhouses and six of the 253 single-detach temporary housing units are located in Mampang I while the 247 single-detach houses in Mampang II.

Casinillo said they are encouraging the IDP-families who are still housed in evacuation tents at the Mayor Joaquin F. Enriquez Memorial Sports Complex to transfer to the vacant temporary shelters.

Casinillo said they are giving free food packs to the IDP-families as incentives once they transfer since some of them do not want to stay at the transitory site in Barangay Mampang as the place is far from the city proper.

She disclosed that DSWD record shows there are still 1,399 IDP-families that are still staying at the sports complex.

She said the other benefits they would receive by transferring to the transitory site in Barangay Mampang are the assistance being provided by the non-government organizations.

Meanwhile, Casinillo said the construction of additional 400 units of temporary shelters is ongoing in “Mampang III.”
