Representative Celso Lobregat of the first Congressional District expressed appreciation to the board of directors of Metro Zamboanga Hospital and Medical Center (MZHMC), the soon to be constructed hospital in Canelar, for staying and looking into the medical needs of the residents and consequently for investing in the city.

Keynoting the groundbreaking ceremonies of the MZHMC last Saturday, Lobregat extolled the investors who are mostly Zamboangueno doctors for taking cognizance of the huge market in the city and for putting a lot of resources to come up with a modern and state of the art hospital facility.

“I should say you are not risk takers but you are good investors because you see that the market is here,” the congressman expressed.

With the growing population in the city and the region, he said, the establishment of new hospitals and the expansion of the existing facilities are still not enough to address the medical needs of the residents. Nevertheless, the construction of the MZHMC and the modernization and expansion of established health facilities are very positive indications that the city is trying to cope with the demand.

The congressman recounted with pride that he is a delighted beneficiary of the remarkable medical services and highly qualified and professional medical doctors in the city. Recently, he said he personally availed the services of some modern medical facilities at the Zamboanga City Medical Center and the results of the tests were referred to physicians in Manila. “The doctors in Manila were surprised to find out that we have such facilities in the city and that the interpretation of the results were done by skilled and highly professional doctors.”

And so he said, reliable, highly skilled, experienced and professional doctors as well as nurses, radiologists and other health personnel form part of the package in opening up a new, efficient hospital facility.

“We have very good doctors and nurses and they are not leaving Zamboanga. They are true examples of our No Te Vayas de Zamboanga (Don’t leave Zamboanga) advocacy,” he added.

Also present during the groundbreaking ceremony were Ma yor Beng Climaco and the hospital board of directors headed by Board Chair Dr. Ningh Singh and other guests. — Jubels Santos
