Illegal mining operation uncovered in La Paz PDF Print E-mail

Officials of Barangay La Paz and personnel of the Office of the City Environment and Natural Resources uncovered an illegal mining site in Camp Susana located in that upland barangay.

Recovered down a tunnel in the said area were a stock of mineral ore.

However no miners were sight when officials arrived in the area.

During investigation, a caretaker of the mining site whose identity has been withheld, told the team that the mining has been going on since 2002.

Meanwhile, a total of 48 sacks of mineral ore were recovered and were turned over to the OCENR.

La Paz was the site of legal mining operation some 30 years ago.— Dan Toribio
