Recognizing the service of the City Police Office under Sr. Supt. Edwin De Ocampo, the Rotary International District 3850 awarded certificates of citation to 45 policemen yesterday during a regular flag-raising ceremony at the Central Police Station compound.

City Police Information Officer SPO4 Alex Mabalot disclosed that the citation was given in recognition of the security service provided by the police during the Rotary District Conference held in this city on April 1-3, this year.

Mabalot said the district conference was one of the biggest affairs of the Rotary in Mindanao involving 1,000 participants including foreign Rotarians from the United States, Australia, Taiwan and Korea.

The local police headed by De Ocampo were deployed in the venue and adopted security measures that ensured success of the event.
James Makasiar, Rotary District Governor,  underscored the importance of the city police in providing much needed security during the affair. He attributed the safe conduct of the event to the vigilance of the law enforcers who were in the vicinity a day ahead of the convention.

De Ocampo vowed to continue his good work as chief of the local police to give more services to the public.
“We are ready anytime to respond to any eventualities especially in providing security to the community. My men and I assure the public that we will exert our efforts in performing our duties and responsibilities as law enforcers,” De Ocampo said.

Also present during the awarding rites were Oscar Zaragosa, assistant governor and  Antonio “Butch” Blanco, district secretary. — Dan Toribio Jr.
