A Zamboanga City Electric Cooperative (Zamcelco) electric pole along Tetuan highway.collapsed at dawn yesterday causing power outages in several barangays

Based on complaints of several residents, the collapse of the electric pole around 2 a.m. plunged some barangays under Presa, Northside and Guiwan feeders in darkness.

Zamcelco management explained that the blackout was caused by the collapse of two poles of PLDT and one from the cooperative.

It was learned that the two PLDT posts collapsed due to overload of wires.

The falling PLDT poles sent wires hitting a Zamcelco post which inclined toward the ground.

Zamcelco personnel immediately went to work to fix the poles while the police temporary closed the entire Tetuan Highway to give let Zamcelco and PLDT personnel finish their work.

Motorists from the east coast used Estrada Street and Cabato Road in going to  the city proper.
