Land Transportation Office-9 Director Aminola P. Abaton has advised motorvehicle owners against using improvised plate number without authority from the LTO district offices in the region because in doing so they will be fined  or penalized for violation of the Traffic Code.

Abaton said motorvehicle owners should go to LTO-9 and ask for authority from the district offices to use temporary  plate number if they do not have  an assigned new plate number for the registration or renewal of their motorvehicles.

“Once motorvehicle owners are assigned new plate number by LTO-9 upon renewal or registration of their motorvehicle, they can keep their old plate number for souvenir,” Abaton said.

During a Regional District Officers and Senior Transportation Regulation Officers Conference held yesterday morning  at his office in Sta. Barbara, Abaton directed district officers and senior transportation regulation officers to intensify their campaign against colorum public utility jeepneys and public utility vehicles in the region.

The LTO-9 chief said it is now easy to determine or notice  if a  PUJ or PUV is colorum because their route of service  is stated in each unit . —  Allen Abastillas
