A woman claiming she is a policewoman to victimize PNP applicants was arrested in an entrapment operation along Nunez St. last Tuesday morning.

Esmeralda Jaime y Solis, 43, of Alfaro St., Tetuan, was arrested by men of the Central Police Station, Rregional Intelligence Division and RIU9, around 10 a.m.

The entrapment operation came after some applicants wanting to join the PNP filed a complaint against her for collecting fees from them supposedly to ensure their applications would be accepted by PNP. They later learned she was an impostor.

Police said that Jaime had introduced herself as Police Sr. Insp. Sarah Ibrahim of the Police Regional Office-9.

It was learned that Jaime had been demanding P30,000 from each applicant as “under the table payment” to ensure they will be taken in by the PNP

Police gathered that most of those who approached Jaime who demanded from themthe  said amount were not qualified to become police officers..

Jaime was taken to the police station for investigation as charges have been readied against her for usurpation of authority and swindling/estafa. —  Dan Toribio
