Councilor Gerry “Totong” Perez on Thursday thanked his colleagues in the City Council for giving him a vote of confidence for the chairmanship of the Council’s Committee on Peace and Order.

Perez replaced Councilor Roel “Elong” Natividad amid allegations linking him to the rice smuggling.

Natividad, who was appointed chairman of the Committee on Sports. denied the allegations, saying it is politically motivated.

The reshuffle of the two committees was carried before the annual  State of the City Address Report (SOCRE)  by Mayor Isabelle Climaco- Salazar held at the Casa Latino , Paseo del Mar last Tuesday.

“Ta rindi yo gracias con el maga dimiyo colleagues kay ya dale sila comigo el chairmanship na Peace and Order Committee. Ase iyo cosa bueno manera para el seguridad  na de aton ciudad,” Perez said in Chavacano.

Perez disclosed that he had a meeting recently  with City Police Director Sr. Supt. Angelito A. Casimiro and Task Force Zamboanga chief Col. Andrelino Colina  in which they discussed security measures for the city.

“Ya anda yo na opisina de Col. Casimiro na City Police Offic y Col. Colina na Task Force Zamboanga para man disccuss kame de mio maga plano na security measures de ciudad.  Ay keda successful este de mio plano na securidad with the support of Sr. Supt. Casimiro and Col. Colina. Bien importante gayot el de ila maga supporta ,” Perez stressed.

Perez also conducted visits and checked the different entry and exit roads of the city. He is  also scheduled to check  the different coastal areas in the city. Perez is also the concurrent Anti- Drug Task Force head. — Allen Abastillas
