Ciudad Medical Zamboanga launched yesterday its “BRAngay” Project at the Tetuan Health Center in coordination with  the city health  office.

BRAngay, an acronym that stands for Breast Awareness for Neighborhoods, Groups, Associations and the Youth, is an offshoot of the BRA Campaigned project for the barangays with free lectures and screening.

CMZ Director Dr. Filipinas R. Rojo said the launching of the BRAngay Project involves programs like breast cancer awareness lectures, video presentation, short films on breast awareness and continuation of breast screening among many others.

Rojo also said that breast cancer can be prevented at early stage if females engage in regular exercise, eat healthy foods like fruits and vegetables, breast self exam and self massage.

She advises women to visit a doctor if they notice any peculiar signs in their breast like the color of their nipples which change to orange, cyst (bukol ) and release of liquid so that an  early medical operation and medication can be made to cure the disease.

Rojo said that they will conduct the same project on February 10 at the Tetuan Health Center because Chairman John Dalipe would provide 150 females for check-up.  Women from different barangays in the city can join the free breast check-up and free breast cancer awareness activities. —  Allen Abastillas
