A fisherman, whose boat capsized due to big waves in Olutanga, Zamboanga Sibugay, was rescued Thursday afternoon off Manicahan, this city

Alejandro Sael Conjurado, 49, of Olutanga, was plucked from the sea by residents and fishermen who spotted him clinging on a styrofoam ice case lid.

Conjurado, who had not eaten any food for two days since the sea mishap Tuesday, was taken to a clinic for medical checkup.

He told the police that he was sailing back to shore after catching some fish off Olutanga around 8 p.m. Tuesday, when big waves slammed his boat.

Conjurado’s boat capsized, but he was able to grab the ice chest lid and remained afloat in the sea for two days.

He said he did not eat anything while in the sea but never lost hope to survive until he found his way in Manicahan.

Conjurado returned to his place after documentation and medication. — Dan Toribio
