Land Transportation Office-9  Director Aminola P. Abaton hosted yesterday a Law Enforcement Traffic Adjudication Service Briefing and Orientation at its office in Sta. Barbara.

Participants to the activity were personnel from the LTO-9 district offices, the Law Enforcement Division and units, Highway Patrol Group-9 operatives, traffic enforcers from Dipolog City, Pagadian City, Zamboanga City, men from the Zamboanga City Police Traffic Division, Task Force Zamboanga soldiers, policemen of the Zamboanga City Public Safety Company under Supt. Arile Huesca Jr. and representatives from transportation associations in the region.

Abaton told the participants that as of the moment, the power of LTO offices in  Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi  is only to register and renew tricycles and motorcycles. But for registration of four-wheel motorvehicles, the three  provinces are not allowed to do so.

He reminded the traffic law enforcers in the whole region to double check the official receipts of motorvehicles, specifically those registered in Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.

“The authority to register four-wheel motorvehicles in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao has not yet been devolved to them. They can only register motorcycles and tricycles,” Abaton stressed.

Abaton also reminded the participants that traffic law enforcers when enforcing the law on violators, should inform the latter of what is his or her violations.

Above all, Abaton told the participants that they should work with utmost respect and courtesy to the people. — Allen Abastillas
