The City Treasurer’s Office exceeded its 2014 collections by 10.75% citing intensified collection strategies.

The collection reached P2.25billion as compared to the P2.037 billion collection in 2013.

City Treasurer Soledad Li said the strategies include the intensified sending of demand and follow-up collection letters, the intensified inspection of business establishments, the recommendation of closure of business establishments with delinquent accounts and no business permit and the forwarding of delinquent accounts to the Legal Office for appropriate legal action.

Li said majority of the revenue came from the 2014 Internal Revenue Allotment amounting 1.69 billion, collections from Local Real Property Taxes and other local taxes, Permits and Licenses, Social Income, Business Income and other incomes, the city’s share from the National Wealth, share from Ecozone and the city’s share from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO). — Ella Dee Phuddih Cruz-WMSU OJT, City Hall
