The brutal killing of a farmer in Barangay Lanzones in the evening of January 30 is now considered solved after one of the two killers surrendered to the police Monday night.

Sangali police station commander Sr. Insp. Joel Tuttuh said that Nicanor Delos Reyes y Guevarra, 56, accompanied by his sister-in-law Maria Isabel Delos Reyes, went to the Sangali police station and turned himself to the police saying he was one of the two persons who beat Ernesto Rebollos Bernardo to death on January 30 around 9 p.m.

Delos Reyes told the police that his cohort during the killing identified as Robert Lagan y Dammang eluded arrest.

To recall, on January 31 around 7 a.m., Bernardo’s body bearing multiple injuries was discovered. He was apparently struck with stone

It was learned that before the killing, Bernardo and the two had a drinking spree. While on their way home, the two grabbed a stone and struck it on Bernardo’s head and body killing him.

Meanwhile Delos Reyes was turned over to the Culianan Police Station which is handling the case. — Dan Toribio
