A militiaman was killed while two others were wounded when an armed group attacked a CAFGU outpost in Barangay Lumbang, Isabela last Tuesday night.
Killed was Rani Baraji, a member of the Citizen Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU). Wounded were Nasser Hashim, also a CAFGU and a member of the Army’s Special Forces, whose identity was not immediately known.

A sketchy report reaching Daily Zamboanga Times disclosed that the attack took place at past 7 p.m. that triggered an exchange of fire. Another source disclosed that the incident was a case of “misencounter”. But he gave no other details.

Authorities were still investigating to determine any casualties among the attackers after they withdrew towards the hinterland of Lumbang.
Police disclosed that revenge was one of the possible motives of the attack as the attackers had a dispute with one of the members of the militiamen detailed at the outpost.

Hashim and the army soldier were transferred to the Zamboanga City Medical Center for further treatment. — Dan Toribio Jr.
