Drum and lyre, cheer dance tilts set today PDF Print E-mail

Five drum and lyre corps representing the different secondary schools in the city will battle it out for the title in the Drum and Lyre competition set at 1pm today at the City Coliseum.

The Drum and Lyre competition will be back to back with the Open Cheer Dance contest where three entries have been submitted.

The two contests are part of the 78th Dia de Zamboanga Festival celebration which marks the installation of the first set of city officials on Feb. 26, 1937.

Participants to the Drum and Lyre competition include the Talisayan National High School, Arena Blanco National High School, Universidad de Zamboanga High School, Southern City Colleges and Zamboanga City National High School Main.

On the other hand, participants to the Cheerdance Competition include Western Mindanao State University, Universidad de Zamboanga and Red Bombers (RBM).

The grand winners in both the Drum and Lyre and Cheer Dance contests will perform during the main program for the Dia de Zamboanga on Thursday, Feb. 26 at Paseo del Mar.  — Juseph Gelantagaan Elas & Ella Dee Phuddih Cruz, WMSU OJT, City Hall
