Police arrested two pawnshop employees for allegedly conniving with a holdupper who robbed millions of pesos worth of jewelry items along Tomas Claudio Street Monday morning.

Investigators of Central Police Station swooped down on Pajak Malingkat Pawnshop around 8 a.m. after receiving a report of a robbery-holdup.

During ocular investigation, policemen found out that the lone gunman got away with P4.5 million worth of assorted jewelries.

However while interrogating Joepres Supil, an employee of the pawnshop, who claimed that the gunman entered the store and ransacked the jewelries with gun pointed at him, lawmen detected some discrepancies in his statement.

As investigation progressed, Supil admitted that the holdup was an “inside job” in which he and his co employee identified ad Abubakat Sadjali and the gunman planned it two weeks ago.

Sadjali was arrested during a hot pursuit operation at his residence in Talon-Talon where policemen recovered stolen some jewelries worth P1.8 million.

Supil and Sadjali were detained while a qualified theft case was readied against them by the police. — Dan Toribio
