The Western Mindanao State University’s Hawks Pep Squad for years now remains undefeated in the annual Cheerdance Competition of the city government as it successfully defended its championship title during the showdown Tuesday afternoon at the Mayor Vitaliano Coliseum in Tetuan, this city.

The WMSU hawks squad went home richer by P50,000 cash for the first prize followed by Universidad de Zamboanga (UZ) with P30,000 for second and RBM Team in the third spot with P20,000.

Meanwhile, the Zamboanga City High School Main easily claimed the P30,000 first prize in the Drum and Lyre Competition participated in by five high schools.

Second placer was Talisayan National High School with P25,000 cash prize, and UZ Technical High School in the third place with P20,000 prize.

The Southcom National High School and Arena Blanco National High School received a consolation prize of P5,000 each.

The cheerdance and the drum and lyre competitions are conducted annually by the city government as part of the activities for the “Dia de Zamboanga” celebration.— Vic Larato
