Men of the Sangali Police Station led by Sr. Insp. Joel Tuttuh intercepted on Wednesday in Sangali a shipment of used clothing (ukay-ukay) suspected to have come from outside Zamboanga Peninsula.

A police report disclosed that Tuttuh and his men were manning a checkpoint around 5:45 p.m. when an Isuzu Forward truck driven by Eduardo Alvarez, 46, of Curuan came on the way to the city proper.

With Alvarez were truck helpers Juhairi Ibrahim, of Iligan City, Reygan Mundal of Pitogo, this city, Ronel Samson of Diplahan.

Police said the truck owned by Ibrahim Marife was loaded with 70 bales of smuggled used clothing with estimate value of P1,050,000.

The seized cargo as well the truck drivers and helpers were turned over to the Bureau of Customs for proper disposition.— Dan Toribio
