All roads lead to Zamboanga City Coliseum this afternoon for the highly anticipated Golpe De Zamboagueno!

Jonil Gadapan of Iligan City, the former Mindanao Champion and RP Rated # 6 lightweight, vowed to knock out Zamboanga’s pride and former WBO intercontinental lightweight champion Rocky Anthony Marcial.

Gadapan, a veteran, heavy puncher and slugger, said he is confident that he will knock out Marcial either on the fourth or fifth round of their championship match for the Mindanao Professional Boxing Association (MINPROBA).

The former RP rated # 6 lightweight along with his official team arrived here yesterday morning from Iligan City.

During yesterday’s official weigh-in held at the Plaza Pershing, Gadapan appeared to be undoubtedly restless and aggressive as he intentionally shoved Marcial while not taking off his fierce look on the Zamboangueno champ.

Marcial maintained calm and composure as he smiled at Gadapan with his right clenched fist raised high.

“I will do the talking inside the ring,” Marcial told reporters in the local vernacular during a media briefing.

The Zamboangueno pug, however, hinted that his impressive record 19 wins, 18 via knockout and only three losses, will give him optimism and more confidence that he will also knock out the Iligan boxer not later than five rounds.

Rolando “Junie” Navarro, the national boxing promoter of the Golpe De Zamboangueno MINPROBA Championship, stressed that the Marcial-Gadapan clash will surely treat local boxing fans to thrilling and exciting round per round action.

“We are proud to present this championship match between Marcial and Gadapan to the Zamboagueno public. Rest assured that these equally talented and highly skilled boxers will fight toe-to-toe right after the bell rings,” Navarro told reporters.

Although not necessarily a win via knockout, both fighters badly need an impressive victory since they want to be back in the national boxing limelight in order to have more prize fights not only in Manila but as well as in the Asia-   Pacific.

Vicente Cabalog, GAB (boxing) Zamboanga City OIC, said that Marcial’s agility and power are his best weapon against Gadapan’s brawling and power-packed style.

“Our very own Marcial, aside from being a heavy puncher, has speed advantage plus very good ring generalship,” Cabalog said.

TheGolpe De Zamboagueno (MINDPROBA CHAMPIONSHIP), the Marcial-Gadapan match also features equally exciting fights of local promising boxers like ConradoTanamor, SEA Games medallist and with a 5-0 professional record, Angelo Marcial, Roel Aparece, all from the Rolando Navarro Stable.

The much anticipated Golpe De Zamboagueno will start at 5:00 PM at the City Coliseum.
