‘Dia’ Jobs Fair registers 600 applicants PDF Print E-mail

The 2015 Dia de Zamboanga Jobs Fair, organized by the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) under the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) held February 26 registered some 600 applicants with 422 qualified for various positions pending examinations and tests.

Of the total number, 45 were hired on the spot during the fair that was participated by 18 local recruitment agencies and 8 overseas recruitment agencies.

Held in coordination with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Philippine Overseas Employment Agency (POEA), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and the ABS-CBN, the jobs fair rolled out a total of 1,700 local vacancies and 10,300 overseas vacancies.

Lourdes Francisco of the PESO Office said the 422 qualified for various positions will have to undergo trade tests and medical examinations. The results may be known anytime soon.

A number of the applicants were internally displaced persons from the grandstand and the Mampang transitory sites. Some of them were hired by canning factories that participated in the jobs fair.

The activity formed part of the Dia de Zamboanga celebration February 26 which marked the installation of the first set of city officials in 1937.
