A lumber trader was shot and hacked to death by two persons at Zone 1, Cawit last Tuesday night.

Ayala police station chief Sr. Insp. Karib Muharam identified the fatality as Ronan Punzalan y Macapili, 37, married, of Zone 5, Ayala. He sustained multiple bullet and hack wounds in the body and died on the spot.

A police report disclosed that Punzalan was walking along the road in Zone 1, Cawit around 8:20 p.m. when an identified man shot him several times.

Despite the bullet wounds, Punzalan managed to run towards  the house of a woman with whom he allegedly had an illicit affair. But when reached the house,  the son of the woman whose identity was not mentioned in the police report,, hacked him repeatedly.

Police recovered at the scene 14 spent shells of an unknown gun caliber and four sachets of shabu.

Moreover the report said that several individuals had filed complaints with the Ayala police station against Punzalan for not delivering lumber for which they had already paid.

Police said that Punzalan was known to be a drug user in the area.
