The Land Transportation Officein the region is preparing for the use of a gadget called breath analyzer to go after drunk drivers.

LTO-9 Director Aminola P. Abaton said that two of his office personnel — Asst. Director Yusuf Lamping and Abdelshan Amilasan — are currently attending a seminar demonstration on the use of the gadget at the LTO central office  in Manila.

The seminar also teaches the attendees on the protocol on how to impose fines and penalties against drivers who violates Republic Act 10586 otherwise known as the Anti-Drunk and Drug Law Act of 2013.

The target pilot launching of roadshow on the implementation of the breath analyzer against violators will be on the last week of March. The launching and pilot implementation will be in the cities of Zamboanga , Davao, Cebu and Cagayan de Oro City.

Abaton stressed that it is high time for drivers to be responsible enough to know and abide by the law because  life is precious and it must not be destroyed through irresponcible driving attitude because of alcohol intoxication.

Abaton explained that the breath analyzer if operated to check if a driver is intoxicated with alcohol, can detetmine and analyze his or her alcohol intake of a 0.5.

LTO-9 will be allocated by the LTO central office with 8 units of the gadget.

Abaton advises drivers to be responsible and not to drive a motorvehicle if they are drunk.
