The Highway Patrol Group-9  has started preparing a traffic assistance scheme and security measures for the   approaching “Semana Santa” or Lenten Season that will fall on the first week of April.

HPG-9 Chief Sr. Supt. Severino B. Agustin disclosed that the Lenten Season traffic assistance scheme and security measures is something that is routinary  and done annually.

“We have always prepared a ready traffic scheme and we modified it  depending on the volume of motorvehicles entering our area of jurisdiction to decongest traffic especially in areas where there is heavy  influx of motorvehicles,” Agustin said.

He has ordered all HPG Provincial Teams to coordinate with local city traffic police and officials of the Regional Management Council-9 in the matter of traffic management during the Holy Week.  HPG 9 will also establish Passenger Assistance Center in each province.

Agustin added that aside from the preparation of traffic scheme, he has also directed the provincial teams to be extra vigilant and alert in the continuing operations against carnappers because no one knows if carnappers would take advantage of the situations and will conduct their modus operandi during the season. — Allen Abastillas
