A resident of Guiwan narrowly escaped death in a gun attack Tuesday night.

A police report disclosed that Armando Xavier Palaez y Ansaldo, 37, single, of Saavedra Compound, Guiwan, was standing at the gate of the house around 8:44 p.m. when Crisanto Gregorio y Arcillas appeared aboard a Kawasaki Rouser motorcycle.

Police said Gregorio stopped and alighted then suddenly drew a 9 mm pistol and pointed it at Palaez.

Palaez quickly reacted to defend himself, resulting in a scuffle during which the gun went off hitting the ground.

Gregorio then left the place after the gun jammed.

Police recovered two spent shells of 9mm pistol at the scene.

Police went to the suspect’s house in Lunzuran but he was nowhere to be found. — Dan Toribio
