The Zamboanga City Electric Cooperative (Zamcelco) will soon have  a 16-megawatt module generator set to produce additional power supply for Zamboanga City.

Zamcelco General Manager George Ledesma disclosed yesterday that the 16-megawatt module generator set is a program of the Department of Energy for every cooperative nationwide. The generator set  is made in United Kingdom.

Ledesma said that Zamcelco is the biggest electric cooperative in Mindanao and it is always on time in paying its bill to the National Electric Administration (NEA). This is the reason why the Department of Energy has given  Zamcelco  the first priority in the acquisition of the 16-megawatt genset.

An expert from NEA and one electrical engineer from Zamcelco  will go to London by the end of March to check on the said generator set.

Moreover, Ledesma revealeed that Zamcelco is considering to use solar power to augment the overall power supply in the city.  — Allen Abastillas
