Best Center gears for 26th cage clinic in Zamboanga City Print

Now on its 26th year, Best Center Basketball Clinic sponsored by Milo, will return on April 13-18 for another clinic with the aim of tapping and producing skilled cagers who can compete in national and internationl leagues.

Best Center, which has produced several finest baskeball stars in the country, uses proven scientific ways in training and sharpening the skills of young basketball enthusiasts.

This year’s event will again be held at the Ateneo de Zamboanga University’s MPPC.

Pedro C.  Alfaro Jr., Milo Best Center franchise holder and concurrently area head of the  Samahang  Basketbolista ng Pilipinas in Mindanao said the Best Center Basketball Clinic is actually 38 years old nationwide as it started in Metro Manila. In Zamboanga City, it is on its 26th year.

This year’s clinic, Alfaro revealed, it will focus on the various and latest basketball skills and techniques designed for young budding cagers.

The clinic involves two categories — Preparatory Level for 5 to 8 years old with registration fee of P4.300.00, and Levels 1, 2, 3 and 4 for 9 years old and above with Registration Fee of P3,500.00

Registration fee will entitle a participant to one free t-shirt.

Best Center Clinic sponsored by Milo is the only basketball organization that has basketball tournament for kids below 12 and 14 years.

The tournament in local level is held in August-September period, while the regional competition is set on October in Davao City and the national tournament to be held on November in Pampanga.

Among the many successful players who are graduates of Milo-Best Basketball Clinic are Kiefer Ravena and Chris Tiu, TY Tang and ex La Salle star, Zamboangueño Jens Kneutell of Sta. Maria  who played with FEU team, Michael Tolomia who also played with FEU varsity team, RR Garcia, Most Valuable Player, UAAP 2010 and Al Amin formerly of the San Beda Juniors. Veteran and retired PBA players who had also participated in the Milo-Best clinic were Alvin Patrimonio, Zandro Limpot and Benjie Paras.
