400 hectares of farmland razed in another bush fire PDF Print E-mail

After the bush fire that levelled up some 50 hectares of farmland in Barangay Vitali and destroying millions of pesos worth of fruit and rubber trees, another similar fire broke out in Barangays Mangusu and Tigbalabag on Thursday and continued until Friday destroying some 400 hectares of farmland planted to coconut and fruit trees.

A police report disclosed that the latest bush fire was spotted to have started at Sitio Bincul, Mangusu last Thursday.

Police said that a total of 14 coconut kilns were destroyed in that conflagration brought caused largely due to the alarming and disastrous dry spell.

Fire investigators were still trying to determine the total damage as well the identity of the person responsible for igniting the fire.

Meanwhile, another fire took place at Purok 1, Barangay Lunzuran around 11:30 in the morning last Friday, destroying one of the rooms and a dirty kitchen of a two-story unfinished concrete house belonging to Jojo Betines.

The said house was occupied by the owner’s caretaker identified as Mr. and Mrs. Jovie Pepito with their three children ages 8, 6, and 3 years old.

The fire started around 11:00 a.m. and was declared under control  about 12:00 noon.

No one was hurt, while investigation was still ongoing as of press time to determine the cause of fire.

Meanwhile,  another blaze broke out at Zone 3, Barangay Guisao around 6:45 p.m. Friday.

Police said that the Saw Mill of Kagawad Ronnel Cabreros of Barangay Cabaluay, was razed.

Initial investigation disclosed that Ruben Pantaleon and Richard Arquiza both barangay tanods of Barangay Guisao discovered the around 6:45 p.m. and tried to contain it but failed.

Fire investigators estimated the damage at P50, 000.

Moreover, another fire was reported as of this press time at Sitio Daap, Sangali affecting many houses. – Dan Toribio Jr.
