City fetes 3 PMA 2015 graduates from Zambo PDF Print E-mail

Mayor Beng Climaco, on behalf of the City Government, yesterday formally recognized and honoured three young Zamboangueños who were part of the Philippine Military Academy’s Sinaglahi Class 2015 for bringing honor and pride to Zamboanga City.

The three are 2Lt. Genesis Salvador Dizon of Sta. Maria, who graduated salutatorian of the Sinaglahi Class; Ensign Steven Gabica Tali of Lower Calarian who finished number 8 in class and Ensign Jael Gica Francisco of Divisoria. Dizon chose to join the Philippine Army while Tali and Francisco chose Philippine Navy as their branch of service.

The formal recognition is contained in Executive Order BC 108-2015 issued by Mayor Climaco March 23 and was presented to the 3 young Zamboangueños during the mayor’s regular Monday press briefing in City Hall.

“The City Government of Zamboanga, and the entire Zamboangueño community, jointly and with solidarity express their heartfelt congratulations with beaming pride and joy, on the occasion of these gallant men’s graduation and accomplishments, and as such, brought honor and recognition to the City,” the executive order said.

Dizon, aside from  graduating top 2 of the Sinaglahi class was also awarded the Vice Presidential Saber, the Academic Group Award, the Natural Sciecnes Plaque, the Humanities Plaque and the Australian Defense Best Overall Performance Award. His exemplary achievements and dedication to excellence, inspite of adversities are sources of inspiration to fellow Zamboangueños, young and old, and worthy of emulation, the EO said.

Tali on the other hand, aside from recognized as top 8 of the class, joined the roster of successful graduates of the PMA with the highest academic achievement.

Francisco likewise serves as an example to more Zamboangueños to respond to the call of service in defending the Philippine flag.

Climaco said the EO will be forwarded to the City Council with the request that the city, through the August body recognize and honor 2Lt. Dizon, for being this year’s salutatorian of the PMA and for garnering numerous prestigious awards in the academy on the occasion of his graduation, Ensign Tali being the top 8 of his class and Ensign Francisco.

The mayor also seeks the passage of a resolution conferring upon the three the honorary title of “El Distinguido Y Emjemplar Hijos de la Ciudad de Zamboanga” (the Distinguished and Exemplary Sons of Zamboanga City).

The executive orders were presented to each of the 3 young Zamboangueños by Mayor Climaco with the assistance of City Police Director Col. Angelito Casimiro during the mayor’s regular Monday press briefing in City Hall.

The PMA Sinaglahi class graduation was held last March 15 in Baguio City with President Noynoy Aquino as guest of honor. Sinaglahi is the abbreviation for Sundalong Isinilang na may Angking Galing at Lakas Handang Ipaglaban ang Bayan. — Sheila Covarrubias
