A total of 20 motorcycles were hauled in just one day in a crackdown against illegal racing by men of the Zamboanga City Public Safety led by Supt. Ariel Huesca along Nunez Extension at dawn Saturday.

Huesca’s men were conducting mobile patrol along Nunez extension when they spotted a group of persons with motorcycles apparently gearing for dawn race along four-lane stretch.

Immediately the police parollers disrupted the illegal activity.

Aside from the rounding up of 20 motorcycles, Huesca’s men also confiscated several driver licenses and issued TOP and citation tickets to the violators.

The seized motorcycles were impounded at the city police office.

Sources said the illegal race takes place almost every weekend by young motorcyclists along Nunez extension or Veterans Avenue. Bets are placed by the thousands for every race. Some of the racists are suspected as high on shabu. — Dan Toribio
