DepEd, PASUC execs to speak at WMSU’s 70th Graduation PDF Print E-mail

Undersecretary Dina S. Ocampo of the Department of Education (DepEd) and Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) President Dr. Ricardo E. Rotoras will be gracing the Western Mindanao State University’s (WMSU) 70th Commencement Exercises.

The graduation rites will be divided into two batches to accommodate the number of graduates for 2015. This is scheduled on Tuesday, March 31 and Wednesday, April 1 at the Juanito Bruno gymnasium.

Ocampo is the guest speaker for the first set of graduates on March 31. She comes from the University of the Philippines College of Education. She specializes in literacy development and literacy difficulties among bilinguals and education policy reforms. USEC Ocampo has also published academic articles in local and international journals.

Dr. Rotoras, who will be the guest speaker for the second batch, is the incumbent President of the Mindanao University of Science and Technology (MUST). He set the trend for the young breed of SUC Presidents having been elected to the position at the age of 37. Dr. Rotoras also holds the position as President of the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) since 2011.

The speakers will be welcomed by the WMSU President, Dr. Milabel Enriquez-Ho who shall also confer the 2015 candidates for graduation with their academic degrees.

The theme of this year’s commencement exercises is “ASEAN 2015 and Beyond: Opportunities and Challenges for WMSU Graduates.” — AJ Dalugdug-Public Affairs Office, WMSU
