Police recovered a sachet of shabu and drug paraphernalia from a traffic violator in Sta. Cruz at dawn yesterday.

A police report disclosed that men of the City Police Office and Zamboanga City Public Safety Company were manning a checkpoint in Sta. Cruz around 1 a.m. when Tamsi Bandahala y Suhurah passed by aboard a motorcycle.

Bandahala was not wearing a crash helmet and his motorcycle muffler created ear-splitting noise which prompted them to call his attention.

However Bandahala alighted from his motorcycle and ran away on foot.

The lawmen chased and collared him. Recovered from his possession was a sachet containing suspected shabu weighing some 3.2 grams and drug paraphernalia.

The suspect was detained while the seized items were forwarded to the 9th PNP Crime Laboratory for examination. — Dan Toribio
