A barangay councilman (kagawad) of Capisan was killed while three others were injured after the barangay service vehicle they were riding fell into a 100-meter deep roadside at Sitio Tumanday, Capisan yesterday morning.

A police report disclosed that Kagawad Rolando Ramirez was sick and was being rushed to the hospital aboard the L300 service vehicle of Capisan driven by Joseph Fernandez  Also in the vehicle were Carmelita Macoycruz and Erolyn Bernardo, a barangay tanod.

When they reached “half moon”, a blind curve road, an incoming motorcycle suddenly surfaced prompting the driver to swerve the L300 van to the right to avoid collision. However, in doing so, the L300 vehicle fell into the hilly roadside.

Paramedics from different agencies responded to the accident and were rushed the victims to the hospital where Ramirez was declared dead on arrival.

Police were trying to find out whether Ramirez died of injuries due to the fall or the illness which he was suffered from earlier.

The three other persons in the vehicle were injured and were confined in the hospital.
