Mayor Beng Climaco appealed to local residents to strictly heed the advice of police authorities to be cautious in posting personal details on-line as part of the comprehensive security measures implemented in the city.

This, as City Police Director PSSupt. Angelito Casimiro the other day said the propensity of netizens to share their location, photos of their houses and other personal details through the social media particularly facebook is a security risk as lawless groups have expanded their search for possible targets through online.

Mayor Climaco said people have to support and cooperate with authorities as the latter are exhausting all efforts to safeguard the city and the residents stressing that security and public safety should be a priority.

She said security is everybody’s responsibility and that the police, military and the local government require the help of the civilians.

On the other hand, the mayor renewed her call for people to stay calm but vigilant amidst the diverse threats besetting the city.

She urged constituents to immediately report to the police the presence of suspicious individuals, items or baggage and personalities in their areas of jurisdiction. She also asked the residents to be wary on the presence of abandoned or unattended vehicles in the community.

The police and military through is new security concept PUMA (Pulisya, Marines at Army) have instituted target hardening measures by engaging with communities.

The continued security hardening has so far deterred kidnapping incidents in the City, and the City Police Office hopes to keep it that way. — Sheila Covarrubias
