Regional Director Sisinio B. Cano of the Department of Labor and Employment thanked Congressman Celso L. Lobregat for his continued support to its various programs and projects.

Cano expressed hope that their partnership will further strengthen and improve the delivery of services to their constituents in the city.

In a report to Lobregat, DOLE said it was able to provide financial assistance and grants in the amount of P8,938,402.64 covering Fiscal Year 2013 and P8,609,106 for Fiscal Year 2014.

The funding for the DOLE programs and projects was facilitated by Congressman Lobregat in his capacity as Vice Chairman of the Committee on Appropriations of the House of Representatives.

The multi-million peso appropriation was for the Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES), Government Internship Program (GIP), Tulong, Panghanapbuhay Para sa Mga Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD), Livelihood and Emergency Employment (DILEEP), and Bottom-up Budgeting (BUB) Projects.

In 2013,  a total of  1 , 692 students benefitted from the SPES funded with P2,697,447 and another 1,143 beneficiaries in 2014 from the P2,555,318 allotment.

The DILEEP listed 176 beneficiareis in 2013, and 284 beneficiaries in 2014 with an allocation of P1,294,755.64 and P2,420,208  respectively.

Bottom-up Budgeting (bub) Projects – citywide had an allocation of P4,946,200 in 2013 with 346 beneficiaries.

Last year’s  Government Internship Program provided jobs to 120 individuals with funding of P2,784,000.00 while TUPAD benefitted 153 workers.

Cano also informed Congressman Lobregat that DOLE had programmed the amount of P11,228.520.00 for Fiscal Year 2015. It also proposed the amount of P10,928,520 for Fiscal Year 2016. — Jubels Santos
