A notorious thief behind the series motorcycle thefts and some valuable items from four-wheel vehicles parked at the Ciudad Medical Zamboanga parking lot was arrested at a police checkpoint along RT Lim Boulevard Monday night.

Nabbed was Jason Andico y Bucoy, 26, of La Paz. He was held at the checkpoint while fleeing with a stolen motorcycle owned by Teody Espinosa, an employee of CMZ.

Police sensed something unusual with Andico as he was acting suspiciously. Upon inspection, he could not show any papers for the motorcycle as well as driver license.

Espinosa told this reporter that he parked his motorcycle outside the hospital around 3:15 p.m. and he reported for duty. Around 10 p.m. Espinosa discovered his motorcycle missing.

When Espinosa went to the city police office, he was surprised to see his motorcycle at the station while Andico was already under interrogation.

Espinosa presented to the police papers of the motorcycle to prove ownership.

Andico had seen several times in the CCTV camera of the hospital while stealing motorcycle at the parking lot.

Andico was detained pending the filing of charges against him. —  Dan Toribio
