Masepla TS3 opens with 400 shelters PDF Print E-mail

The Masepla Transitory Site 3 in Mampang is now fully operational with the turnover Friday afternoon of the 400 newly-constructed recovery shelters with funding support from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

DSWD Assistant Secretary Vilma Cabrera led the turnover of the shelters to Assistant City Administrator Dr. Elmeir Apolinario, head of the temporary shelter cluster, who represented Mayor Beng Climaco accepted the shelters together with City Social Welfare Officer Sokee Rojas, Mayor’s executive assistant Jojo Abdussalam, officials from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) which constructed the houses and other officials and internally displaced persons (IDPs)

At least 200 IDP-families who transferred from the Joaquin Enriquez Memorial Sports Complex will occupy the temporary shelters. They are originally from Rio Hondo, Mariki and Sta. Barbara.

Also present during the turnover rites were Muktar Fara of the UN-OCHA, Cris Cayon of UNICEF, DSWD Regional Directoro Zenaida Arevalo, IOM Senior Operations Officer Rex Alamban and Bryan Lustre, IOM-Zamboanga head.

Aside from the 400 completed temporary shelters, the DSWD and the IOM are also undertaking the construction of temporary shelters in Kasanyangan and Buggoc. — Vic Larato
