‘Dia de Obrero’ activities set for May 1 PDF Print E-mail

A job fair and the full array of the Dia de Alcalde services will mark this year’s Labor Day or Dia de Obrero observance in Zamboanga City.

Organized by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in partnership with the City Government of Zamboanga and the Zamboanga City Special Economic Zone (Ecozone), the Dia de Obrero will be held at the Ecozone Grounds on May 1 with the theme “Disenteng Trabaho at Kabuhayan Alay Natin sa Bayan”.

The Dia de Obrero will feature job and livelihood fairs, motorcade, a diskwento fair and market market, TESDA skills demo, medical and dental outreach, the launch of job search kiosk, and turnover of kabuhayan starter kits.

There will be around 27,000 job vacancies up for grabs for both overseas and local employment.

Also highlighting the Labor Day observance are the oath-taking of GIP interns and the MOA signing of the Zamboanga Academe-Industry-Government Council.

The City Government will also be providing free shuttle services to the Ecozone for applicants seeking to join the job fair. The service will be leaving from City Hall at 7 am, 9 am, 11 am, and 1 pm.

The Dia de Obrero activities is open to the public and entrance to the Ecozone for the whole day activity is free as is the use of its pools, zipline, and bowling facilities.

Among the fun festivities set to be featured are the Military Static Display, Grand Boodle fight, ball games, para drop demo, fun run, zumba hour, raffle bonanza, live band, and the lighting of Chinese lanterns. — Jasmine Mohammadsali
