The City Government of Zamboanga is set to join and support the nationwide observance of the Dia de Obrero.

In support of the City’s labor force, the City Government will be providing interested jobseekers with a free ride to the Zamboanga Ecozone, the site of this year’s Labor Day activities, on Friday, May 1.

The shuttles for the Ecozone will depart City Hall at 7 am, 9 am, 11 am and 1 pm.

Aside from the free transport service, the City Government will also be spearheading a Dia de Alcalde program to provide medical and dental consultations to jobseekers and a TESDA skills demo activity.

The theme of this year’s Dia de Obrero is “Disenteng Trabaho at Kabuhayan Alay Natin sa Bayan”. It will be organized by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in cooperation with the City Government of Zamboanga and the Zamboanga City Special Economic Zone (Ecozone).

The Dia de Obrero will feature, among others, job and livelihood fairs, motorcade, a diskwento fair and market market, the launch of job search kiosk, and turnover of kabuhayan starter kits.

There will be around 27,000 job vacancies up for grabs for both overseas and local employment.

The Dia de Obrero activities is open to the public and entrance to the Ecozone for the whole day activity is free as is the use of its pools, zipline, and bowling facilities. — Jasmine Mohammasali
