7 rescued in anti-human trafficking operation PDF Print E-mail

Government operatives on Tuesday afternoon rescued seven would-be victims of human trafficking at the local wharf.

A police report disclosed that the rescue operation took place around 5 p.m.

The seven would-be victims were about to sail for Sabah, Malaysia on the way to Dubai when they were intercepted at the Zamboanga City wharf.

During the operation, authorities also arrested the alleged recruiter who is from Davao City.

The seven would-be victims came from different provinces. They were recruited and promised a job in Dubai without any documents.

The rescued persons were turned over to the concerned agency for proper custody while the recruiter was brought to  the PNP’s Criminal Investigation and Detecion Group (CIDG) for investigation and the filing of charges in court. — Dan Toribio
