Dr. Elmeir Jade Apolinario, assistant city administrator, is now the chief of the newly-activated City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO).

This, as the City Council confirmed during its regular session on Tuesday the appointment of Apolinario upon the favorable endorsement of the City Council’s Committee on Appointments.

The concurrence of the City Council is pursuant to the local government code after Mayor Ma. Isabelle Climaco-Salazar appointed Apolinario as CDRRMO chief.

Apolinario has been serving as the acting chief of the CDRRMO since the office was created in June 2014.

Councilor Juan Climaco Elago, II, chairman of the City Council’s Committee on Appointments, said the concurrence of Apolinario’s appointment shows the City Council supports the decision of the mayor.

“We trust that she has the better wisdom in choosing a department head,” Elago added.

Apolinario expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the mayor and the City Council for the trust given him to serve as the head of the CDRRMO. — RGAAG
