The City Government is looking to secure human resources from within its ranks to augment personnel slated to operate the soon-to-open Integrated Bus Terminal (IBT) in Divisoria.
City Administrator Antonio Orendain Jr. said the IBT Committee has requested the City Human Resource and Management Office (CHRMO) to look into vacancies in the different offices of the local government to augment the number of personnel who will be manning the 24/7 operations of the terminal.
“We are negotiating with the HRM and the Budget Office in order to be able to get enough personnel to manage the IBT,” Orendain said Monday in his update to the local media.
Orendain said additional budget for the IBT is needed but this may not be approved until next year, thus Committee’s request for CHRMO to look for personnel within the City Government to fast track the placement and increase the number of employees for the IBT.
The IBT facilities will need a total of 55 employees who will oversee and manage the 4 six-hour shifts of the terminal operations.
To date, the IBT is still short of 32 employees.
The City Administrator also said the IBT Committee has been regularly meeting to expedite the completion of facilities and other requirements for the operations of the IBT.
The hiring and placement of IBT personnel is one of the final components needed to operate the IBT.
This week, the Committee will be testing different aspects and equipment of the facilities as well as finalizing the concessionaires for the IBT. — Jasmine Mohammadsali
