PSA spearheads 2015 census of population PDF Print E-mail

The  Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)   will  take the lead in the conduct  of the 2015 Census of Population (POPCEN ) all over the country.  The 2015 POPCEN  aims to generate statistics on the socio-economic and demographic characteristics of the population and important housing characteristics.  Such data shall be used as bases in the formulation of development plans and programs and in the allocation of resources at various geographic levels.

The National  Economic Development Authority (NEDA ) Region  IX, Chair of the Regional Census Coordinating Board (RCCB)  in  Zamboanga Peninsula Region,   is set to convene  the Board   on  May 5, 2015  in  Zamboanga City.  This is in  preparation for the 2015  POPCEN  in August 2015  which will cover all the 1,904 barangays in the region’s  three provinces and five cities.

Agenda items to be discussed during the convening/meeting  include the PSA Board Resolution Nos. 07, 08, and 09; timetable of major activities for the  2015 POPCEN; assessment of the needs of  PSA in the region in terms of facilities, transportation, communications, training and lodging needs, security, publicity; and other logistics.  Other relevant issues and concerns  of the RCCB  will  likewise  be discussed .

Relatedly, the Zamboanga City Census Coordinating Board,  which is chaired by Mayor Maria Isabelle  Climaco-Salazar,  was convened last April 16, 2015.
