DOLE reports Celso-initiated P19.8M projects for 2014-15 PDF Print E-mail

Regional Director Sisinio B. Cano of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region 9 reports a total of 8.6M programs for FY 2014 and 11.2M for FY 2015 in Zamboanga City, District 1, which is represented by Congressman Celso L. Lobregat.

Cano thanked Congressman Lobregat for his continued support to its various programs and projects. Cano expressed hope that their partnership will further strengthen and improve the delivery of services to their constituents in the city. Presently, Congressman Lobregat is the Vice Chairman of the Committee on Appropriations of the House of Representatives.

In a report to Lobregat, DOLE said it was able to provide financial assistance and grants in the amount of P8,609,106 for Fiscal Year 2014 with 1,700 beneficiaries. For FY 2015, DOLE programmed a total amount of P11,228,520 with 2,697 beneficiaries.

The multi-million peso appropriation was for the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES), Livelihood and Emergency Employment (DILEEP), Government Internship Program (GIP), Tulong Panghanapbuhay Para sa Mga Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD), and Bottom-up Budgeting (BUB) Projects.

The actual breakdown of said projects in District 1 (amount in Pesos and number of beneficiaries):

For FY 2014: SPES – P2,555,318 (1,143 beneficiaries); DILEEP – P2,420,208 (284 beneficiaries); GIP – P2,784,000 (120 beneficiaries); and TUPAD – P849,580 (153 beneficiaries) for a total amount of P8,609,106 (1700 beneficiaries).

For FY 2015 (Programmed): SPES – P5,479,320 (2,137 beneficiaries); DILEEP – P2,249,200 (336 beneficiaries); BUB projects (*citywide) – P1,500,000 (224 beneficiaries) and for GIP and TUPAD – P2,000,000 (beneficiaries to be determined) for a total amount of P11,228,520 (2,697+ beneficiaries).

The Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) of DOLE was funded both by the city government (60%) and national government (40%).

The Government Internship Program (GIP) for District 1 was launched last May 1 during the Labor Day celebration. Congressman Lobregat was one of the speakers during the said event. — Jubels Santos
