The Commission on Elections-Zamboanga City Office urges registered voters whose biometrics had not been captured to undergo validation on or before October 31, 2015.

Failure to do so will cause the deactivation of records and the voter will not be allowed to cast his vote during the May 9, 2016 national and local elections.

To maximize the validation process, the Comelec has set schedules for off-site registration in both Districts 1 and 2 for the month of May. For District I the schedule is as follows: Talisayan- May 4,5 and 6; Baliwasan- May 10, 11 and 12; Canelar – May 17, 18 and 19; La Paz- May 24, 25 and 26 and Tulungatung- May 31 and June 1. For District II, the schedule includes Tumalutab- May 7 and 8; Sangali- May 10-12; Licomo- May 17-19; Kasanyangan- May 24 and 25 and Vitali- May 31-June 2.

There will be no office transactions when the Comelec office conducts off-site registration.

Under COMELEC Resolution 9721, Rules and Regulations Implementing Republic Act No. 10367, otherwise known as “An Act Providing for Mandatory Biometrics Voter Registration”, all registered voters without captured biometrics will be deactivated or disenfranchised in during the synchronized national, local and ARMM Regional Elections.

For additional details, the public can visit or call the COMELEC-Zamboanga City office at the 1st and 2nd floors of the City Government Building, Villalobos Street, contact numbers 091771489758 or check out facebook page Comelec Zamboanga City.  — Sheila Covarrubias
