To commemorate the legacy of Zamboanga’s own revolutionary hero, General Vicente Alvarez, the City Government of Zamboanga is launching a photo essay competition slated for the Dia de General Alvarez celebration on May 18.

With the theme “Footprints of the General: Bravery in the Face of Adversity for Positive Revolutions of Change”, the photo essay contest is open to all professional and amateur Zamboangueño photographers, and aims to capture and showcase examples of the impact and mark of Alvarez’s life of bravery and valor in everyday acts and situations in Zamboanga City.

Interested participants should provide submissions in the form of photographic essays. A photographic essay entry should be composed of five (5) photos and one-paragraph essay in English with no more than 500 words which succinctly explains the message and provides a narrative of the photos.

Submitted entries must be an original work and must be exclusive to this contest (unpublished and have not been submitted in other contests).

Deadline for submission for all photo essay entries will be on May 14, 5 PM.

Three (3) winners will be selected who will receive cash prizes of P5,000, P3,000, and P2,000, and plaques of appreciation.

The winning entries will also be exhibited during the Dia de General Vicente Alvarez commemoration on May 18 at the Plaza de Gen. Vicente Alvarez on May 18.

The contest guidelines and registration forms are available online at the City Government website (www.zamboangacity.gov.ph) and the ZoomIn: Zamboanga (www.facebook.com/ZoomInZamboanga) Facebook page. — Jasmine Mohammadsali
