Sr. Supt. Severino B. Agustin, Highway Patrol Group-9 chief, has commended Highway Patrol Provincial Unit  of Zamboanga del Sur  under Inspector Joseph Fontanilla for filing a criminal case against a suspected carnapper.

A letter of commendation was given during the  command conference  of the different  HPG provincial units  held at Camp Batalla on Friday  morning.

According to Agustin,  Zamboanga City is always the top performer in the region on the recovery of motorvehicles carnapped in different places in the country.

Agustin has directed  all HPG provincial units to strengthen their security measures and always be vigilant and  alert in the conduct of anti-carnapping operations, as he reiterated the directives of Sr. Supt. Arnold D. Gunnacao, officer in charge of Highway Patrol Group in Camp Crame.

The new OIC of HPG has directed all regional commands to intensify their anti-carnapping operations because carnappers continue their modus operandi in stealing motorvehicles.

“Carnnapers should be defeated and must be punished,” Gunnacao said.

The former National Director of Highway Patrol Group,  Chief Supt. Arrazad Subong, will retire in August. He is now under “Non Duty Status” for the clearance of his papers for retirement. — Allen Abastillas
