Suicide without using a rope to hang, gun to shoot or poison to swallow.

This was what happened to a 32-year-old man who was arrested for creating trouble in Talon-Talon who died while he was being taken the police station by holding his breath for several minutes.

A police report disclosed that Albert Doronila Mata, single, a fisherman and a resident of Purok Rosal, Talon-Talon, was aboard a barangay vehicle heading for the Tetuan Police Station with some of his relatives identified as Jamaica Doronila Unoy and Rosali Doronila Alyap, when he held his breath for some minutes making unconscious.

Policemen rushed Mata to the hospital but he was declared dead on arrival The body was taken to a funeral parlor for post mortem examination.

Investigation showed that Albert Guanzon of Talon-Talon, Loop appeared at the Tetuan Police Station around 9:15 a.m. Friday to ask for assistance regarding Mata’s  unruly behavior.

Acting on the complaint, police from the Police Action Center in the area together with barangay tanods rushed to the area to arrest Mata. — Dan Toribio Jr.
