Men of the Vitali police station on Sunday intercepted a truck transporting quality lumber at Sitio Tarlago, Tictapul.

A police report disclosed that policemen were conducting a mobile checkpoint around 8 p.m. when a truck driven by Gerry Resurrecion and owned by Jessie Salazar arrived.

During inspection, police found the truck was carrying lawaan wood, more or less 2,800 board feet in volume  and owned by Dodong Demadar of Curuan.

During interrogation, the truck driver failed to present papers legalizing the transport of the lumber.

The truck along with the lumber were impounded at the Vitali police station pending its turnover to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. —  Dan Toribio
