Of the total 23 exhibitors who participated in the 12th CAEXPO promotional conference held May 7-8 at Centro Latino, 80% are ready for the China market while the rest need to be improved in terms of packing and shelf life.

The  promotional conference was graced by CAEXPO’s  senior officials from China including officials from the Center for International Trade and Missions (CITEM) who facilitated in the finalization of the delegates and exhibitors to the 12th CAEXPO event slated in September 2015 in Nanning, People’s Republic of China. It was an open trade fair with trainings on Pricing, Costing, Nutrifacts and License to Operate.

Among those present during the conference and trade fair were the Vice Secretary General of China ASEAN Expo Huang Pingxi and Wang Yang, First Secretary of Economic and Commercial Counselors Office, Chinese Embassy and CITEM Corporate Planning Division Chief Doris Gacho.

City Investment and Promotions Division Chief Apple Go said the list of the delegates has yet to be finalized by the CITEM.

The promotional conference was part of the preparations being done by the City Government for its participation in the September event where Zamboanga was chosen as the “City of Charm”.  The selected exhibitors would highlight the champion products of the city.

Go said consumer goods to include processed fish and agricultural products are among the items initially chosen. However, for some products, there is a need to tie up with industries from outside Zamboanga in order to process materials.

The city’s participation is with the support and active participation of the Department of Trade and Industry and Zamboanga Economic Zone and Freefort Authority. — Sheila Covarrubias
