The City Council approved during its regular session yesterday a resolution sponsored by Councilor Vincent Paul “VP” Elago asking the Zamboanga City Electric Cooperative (Zamcelco) to implement the real time schedule of blackouts.

In a privilege speech, Elago told the august body that he has received mounting complaints from consumers about Zamcelco’s not implementing the real time of blackout schedule.

He said there are different feeders in the city with schedules of blackouts, but the cooperative is not implementing what is the real time of blackout.

Elago said there are feeders with four-hour blackout but when power service resumes it only gives two hours of electricity

Consumers have also been complaining, according to Elago, about some feeders with four  blackout scheduled — Blackout in the morning, blackout in the afternoon, blackout in the evening and blackout after midnight.

The resolution also asked Zamcelco to cover up the lost hours of blackouts to feeders with long hours of blackouts and add more hours of power service to the time that it is not implemented for blackouts. — Allen Abastillas
